I upgraded one client computer to Mavericks and now it will not mount my XSAN. The XSAN is run from 10.6 Server on an XServe. I did update the XSAN to 2.2.2 but that did not help. I would love to load Mav onto all my computers but not until this issue is solved.

For a Mavericks client to mount the Xsan volume, you need Mavericks on the MDC.
That scares me. Any advice on the best way to upgrade so that my XSAN doesn't go down? Are all the serial numbers transferred or even used on Mavericks?
XSan 3 is included with the server app, no serial numbers are required any more. If you are scared do a CCC backup of your current server, upgrade to mavericks, and if it doesnt work out restore your CCC backup.
Just dont mess with any LUNS or Volumes if mavericks doesnt work.

I am not certain if it will or not, CCC backs up the entire OS, while as far as i know TimeMachine only grabs config files, user files, and non OS apps. The core OS is not backed up.
TimeMachine backups should work, but i have never tried.
